addition to the family?

I hope you all had a restful Labor Day weekend. We actually had a good mix of fun and chores.

Friday night we headed to the Tractor in Ballard to see a band Rick was interested in checking out. Nevermind that the band went on stage a midnight. And then we went to the Gorge on Sunday night to see Dave Matthews. VIP tickets are the way to go, for sure. Both nights were a wee bit later than my bedtime, and so my internal clock has had quite a jolt.

Saturday morning was spent on errands. My packing list for Southeast Asia. Organizing resources to help Rick with his "paper pack rat" habits. And Monday was dedicated to organizing the office, going through paperwork and generally just purging things.

Now back to the blog title.....Sunday morning we got up early to head over to the dog park to meet up with other Boxer owners. It's usually once a month near our house, so we try to get there when we can. It's always so fun to see Zoe bounding around with the other Boxers. There was a couple there who we'd seen a few times, and Zoe seemed to take a liking to their Boxer named Zepplin. Being a classic rock aficinado, Rick was quite pleased with Zoe's choice of dog park friends. :) We got to talking and Zepplin's owner asked us if we were interested in getting another Boxer. We've of course talked about it after Beaux goes...but certainly not anything immediate since at 14 he still is doing pretty good. So when she showed us a photo of a 2 yr old Boxer male named Joey, we just melted. She explained the circumstances and that the owners were looking for a good home. Hmmm.....Zoe and Joey. Zoe does need a playmate who can keep up with her. And so we gave our phone number in hopes that Joey's owner would give us a call.

And so on Monday afternoon, we got the call. Rick spoke with her, and we've arranged to meet up on Friday afternoon to meet Joey. In the mean time, we're racking our brains for what we'd need to do to prepare ourselves for a third dog. What are we getting ourselves into??!!
